Which ebook gives you the best bang for your buck in the long run…I was looking at the Sony Reader and the Amazon Kindle, let me know if there are any others out there for a good price…Another question, can you read fanfictions on them?

You can save fanfiction as HTML and read them on most ebook readers. For example, see the section "Files Kindle Recognizes" on the official page here for file formats supported by the Kindle:
