Sony Digital Reader. To buy or not to buy?

I love books and i read a lot. i am really torn about the Sony Digital Reader products and those like it. As an environmentalist i love the green aspect. No more trees being cut down is a good thing! However, books are a beautiful technology and i would hate to see them dwindle like the newspaper has. I am also a supporter of my local bookshops.
Does anyone else have this dilemma?

Yes, I agree very much that ebook readers save our environment. I own the Amazon Kindle 2 and I love it very much. I’m a book lover as well, but I think it is just a trend that ebook readers will be more and more popular. However, actual books will still have it position. Just like email is now more and more popular, but we still need regular mail.

Between the Kindle and the Sony Reader, I’ll suggest you to go for the Kindle instead of Sony. The Kindle is better because it has free wireless and text-to-speech function. There are more ebooks you can find available for the Kindle, and books on the Kindle are quite a lot cheaper too. There are some good comparison between them here:

And in case you don’t know, Amazon has recently put a price slash on the Kindle 2, and it adds in international wireless access and native PDF support… So take the chance if you want it.
