kindle 2 & sony ereader question?

I’m currently looking to buy my first ereader and I’m debating b/w the Kindle 2 or the Sony Reader Pocket.

I’ve been doing my research on both but there are still some things I’m confused about:

- Can you only buy books from the amazon store for the Kindle?

- And, can you only buy books from the sony store for the Sony Reader Pocket?

- How do both devices deal with pdf files?

It is true that you can only buy books from Amazon Kindle store for the Kindle (AZW format), and Sony store for the Sony Reader (BBeB). Amazon is much stronger in content support, so I’ll say the Kindle is the future, you can’t go wrong.

Both Sony Reader and the Kindle can handle PDF. Just for the Kindle 2, you’ll need to convert it to Kindle AZW format first (by email to an Amazon provided account) before reading. It should not be a big problem unless you have PDF files that contain complicated tables or charts. For other models of Sony Reader and the Kindle DX, they can read PDF natively.
