I need a little help with buying a netbook. I only want use it as way to read my books, so far I have about 500. I was originally going to get a Sony Reader or an Amazon Kindle but they were so expensive that I started looking around found these mini laptops aka netbooks. I figured that getting a netbook was a better deal , I could do more stuff and get more bang for my buck. But there are so many of them I am getting confused. Anyway I found one on Walmart website: Aspire One: It has 512 MB and 8GB, which I don’t understand what either one of those mean. It is 9.00 with free S/H and I have an 0 gift card. It would come to 6.00 with tax. So my question is it worth it?. Let me clarified that One, I do not know a lot about computers, so please use small and simple words, Two , I do not care about the battery life, keyboard size or the OS, which is Linux ,something I have never even heard of ( I figured I could learn it)and Three I am not trying to spend a lot of money here folks, the word of the day is cheap. I already have a desktop with Windows XP for my everyday needs. All I want to do is download my books, read them and sometimes go on the web, nothing else will be done. So any help will be great. Thanks

i dont suggest you cary around a laptop just to read books. the battery life on that netbook is only 2 hours. it depends wat format the books you want to read are in. i have an amazon kindle because i can just buy books from it on the road or on amazon.com. if you dont want to get a kindle or another electronic book reader, just stick with a regualr old paper book. its going to be a big hassle viewing books on it, or even finding a store that you can get books in an open format that can be used on linux, like pdf.
