» Handheld Readers? Sony? Amazon Kindle? Kindle 2: KINDLE GADGET

Has anyone had any experience with the Sony Reader or know much about the new Amazon Kindle? What are the pros and cons? Did you enjoy them as much as simply reading a normal paperback? Is it easy enough to delete old data to make room for new? Any info is appreciated.

In my opinion the main selling point of the Kindle is that Amazon will sell you new releases and best sellers for $10. If you are a big reader this will make the Kindle pay for itself.

A minus for the Kindle is that you can't transfer documents from your PC to the Kindle since they're not in the right format. You have to email Amazon your documents in Word format which they will then convert to Kindle format and download to your Kindle for 10 cents a document. The Kindle does come with a USB 2.0 cable for transfering audiobooks from you PC to your Kindle, so hopefully someone will come up with converter software so you can skip the email step.

Deleting old data is easy enough, and Amazon keeps track of what you bought so that if you decide you want a book back after you've deleted it, you can download it to your device again.
