Is there such a thing to read .rtf files?

I was wondering if there is such a device that has a screen and will read files like .txt or .rtf? Kind of like a eBOOK reader but not an eBOOK reader. If so how much are they about?

amazon to a sony ebook reader thingy……my mum has 1 and she wants to learn how to download a book off amazon…and on the ebook thing so how do u do that
